La TPS est une société crée en 1992 suite à un accord de partenariat à parts égales conclu entre l'Entreprise Tunisienne d'Activité Pétrolière (ETAP) et British Gaz Tunisien Limited (BGTL). Son nom était Tunisian British Services (TBS). Depuis Janvier 1998, les parts de BGTL ont été achetées par la société allemande Preussag Energie (PEI) et en janvier 1999, TBS a changé de nom pour devenir TPS. En 2003, les parts de PEI ont été achetées par la société Autrichienne OMV.TPS a pour objectif l'étude et la réalisation des projets d'exploitation et de traitement des hydrocarbures liquides et gazeux.
