LANE Bikes was founded in Brooklyn in 2020 by industrial designer Hamish Glover Wilson with the purpose of reducing our reliance on cars. With 50% of car trips being less than 3 miles, e-bikes could easily replace more than 10 billion car miles per year. The big obstacle to the e-bike revolution is that the majority of e-bikes are too heavy, too expensive and often look & feel cumbersome. Our strategy for encouraging wider adoption of e-bikes in the urban environment is to produce bikes that are lighter, more affordable and look way cooler than most of the competition. We also have a cargo e-bike in the works, in some cases these can lead to completely car-free households and can even be used to replace vans for commercial last mile delivery services.
