University College Roosevelt is a Liberal Arts and Sciences, international honors university college of Utrecht University, located in Middelburg, the Netherlands. Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882-1945) once said that "we cannot always build a future for our youth, but we can always build our youth for the future." At UCR, we believe that today’s most complex problems can no longer be solved with a mono-disciplinary approach. This is the ‘opening of the mind’ the founding fathers of the Artes Liberales had in mind. Our program allows you to find a bachelor’s program that suits all of your interests. You can construct your own academic program from over 200 courses, tailor-made to your individual interests. In doing so, the program prepares you for a world whose demands and challenges will grow more complex each year, while optimally preparing you for the master’s program or the job of your choice. Our students come from over 50 different countries and live and study together. Discussing challenges of sea level rise, migration, world trade agreements and more, in a classroom with students from a dozen different countries offers an entirely different - and much stronger - context for learning than a less diverse setting would. Apart from a complete semester on exchange, you may do shorter earth science fieldwork in the Eiffel mountains, follow an archaeology workshop in Athens, join an art history excursion to Rome, or work with indigenous peoples in Mexico. Our alumni are scholars, journalists, scientists, medical doctors, entrepreneurs, engineers, and environmentalists; lawyers, musicians, bankers, human rights activists, artists, diplomats, strategic advisers - and more.
