SNAC System, Inc. is a sports nutrition company founded in 1987 by Victor Conte. SNAC initially developed bio-available mineral and trace element supplements such as zinc, magnesium, copper and chromium. These mineral supplements were used primarily with elite athletes for research purposes. In 1996, Victor Conte developed a product called ZMA, which is a combination of zinc, magnesium and vitamin B-6. In 1998, a ZMA study was conducted at Western Washington University involving NCAA football players. ZMA was found to have positive effects upon muscle strength and endurance. ZMA was brought to the sports nutrition market place in 1999. The product is currently distributed by many of the top sports nutrition companies such as TwinLab, Optimum, Cytodyne, and Met-Rx. SNAC System has since developed additional sports nutrition products including ZMA-5, Xpedite, Vitalyze, Aerobitine, Proquick and Proglycosyn and recently began marketing these products as well.
