Memory Center Charlotte is a non-profit created to impact the lives of those individuals living with Alzheimer's and related dementias and those who care for them through an in-depth assessment of the medical, safety and behavioral needs of the patient. Our ‘Time and Attention' model allows us to also focus special attention on the family to address their emotional, educational and support needs. Memory Center Charlotte first opened its doors in December 2013. Dr. Charles H. Edwards, II is the visionary and driving force behind Memory Center Charlotte. A native Charlottean, Dr. Edwards was deeply affected by caring for his elderly parents, both of whom had dementia. Following 30 years of successful practice as one of Charlotte's most highly respected cardiothoracic surgeons, Dr. Edwards created Memory Center Charlotte to address the huge need for a family-focused model of memory care in the Charlotte region. The combination of early and expert management of memory disorders and caregiver-focused team approach to patient care allows Memory Center Charlotte to positively alter the course of individuals with dementia.
