Electrical Impedance Tomography is a non-invasive, radiation-free imaging modality. Kite Medical is developing a novel device to detect kidney reflux in children. The non-invasive diagnostic solution for kidney reflux removes the trauma and the need for complicated procedures and a hospital visit. Kidney reflux is the most common urological disorder in childhood, affecting up to three per cent of young children. It is most prevalent from six months to five years of age. The condition may resolve as the child gets older, but left undiagnosed and untreated it can lead to permanent kidney damage and ultimately to kidney failure. Early diagnosis is vital, but current standard tests involve catheterisation, filling the bladder with contrast agent and multiple xray images. The Kite solution is a cost-effective, patient centric alternative, non-invasive and radiation-free ideal for screening and monitoring of these patients.
