The executive branch of the Government is headed up by the Prime Minister. It consists of the Prime Minister, the ministers of the various ministries, deputy ministers, and the permanent officials of the various ministries of the government. The Prime Minister is selected by the House of Representatives, with the President of the House of Representatives submitting a recommendation to the King for appointment. Usually the person recommended for appointment as Prime Minister is the leader of the political party having the largest number of elected Members of Parliament. Sometimes, however, a "coalition government" may be formed in which a number of political parties collectively representing a majority of the members of the House of Representatives.
