The Energy Transition Group (ETG) is a partnership of independent consultants, entrepreneurs and thinkers in the Netherlands with a shared objective to promote the transition to a sustainable, affordable and reliable energy system by supporting regional initiatives. ETG FocusETG aims to promote the energy transition in the Netherlands by supporting and connecting regional initiatives. We use our knowledge of sustainable technologies, finance, regulation and entrepreneurship to support local energy initiatives in the creation of clear and achievable plans, the selection of suppliers and the realization of financing. With local energy initiatives we refer to the activities of local energy cooperatives in the built environment, organizations that focus on decentralized electricity generation and companies that aim to make the energy consumption in the value chain from supplier to customer more sustainable through local measures. We believe that these local energy initiatives offer significant growth opportunities for cleantech manufacturers, the construction and installation sector and (new) energy companies and thereby will support regional economic growth and employment. This is in line with the ambitions of the various regional 'revolving' funds, currently under development, which may play an important role to provide (additional) financing.Central and regional governments should support this development through a consistent long-term policy in which a level playing field is created for renewable energy and local energy production. We believe that a comprehensive vision is important to stimulate public-private partnership in this area and we van help to create one.
