New television service ONStv has been established with the main objective to keep South African families living abroad connected to their South African heritage through South African TV and film. With approximately one million South Africans currently living outside South Africa, ONStv will broadcast exclusively South African films and popular TV content in English and Afrikaans (with English sub-titles) beyond the borders of SA. The programme line-up will be extended to subsequently include television series, news and sports programmes to cater for all viewers. Initially launching in Australia and New Zealand, with Canada and the UK to follow soon thereafter, plans are underway to make the service available worldwide.
