Established in 2019 and backed by Kpler, EEX and ICE, Spark Commodities is focused on providing technology-based solutions that promote liquidity in commodity markets, starting with LNG. With a strong technical background, support from over 200 industry players, and market leading shareholders the company provides robust indices and market transparency tools that allows the market to manage price risk while benefiting from the increased levels of transparency. Spark’s first set of indices (LNG Freight), underpinning the ICE LNG Freight Futures, were listed at the end of Q1 2021. These were followed by the SparkNWE and SparkSWE cargo assessments for European LNG which were listed in December 2022. Most recently Spark has launched Access, designed to help energy and financial market players to understand European LNG terminal pricing and slot availability as cargo flows continue to shift.
