The Valley Private Hospital was established in 1984 by Dr Dennis Harvie. The hospital opened with a 24 hour Emergency Department, the first private emergency facility in Australia. Since June 2007 the hospital has been owned and operated by Healthe Care - a subsidiary of Luye Medical, part of the Luye Group. The company is the third largest corporate private hospital operator in Australia and one of the country's largest privately-owned healthcare organisations.
