ICDL Canada has endorsement from The Information Technology Association of Canada, the Canadian Information Processing Society and Action TI. The program is governed worldwide by the not-for-profit ECDL Foundation.ICDL Certifications focus on what we really need to know and be able to do with digital technology so we will be considered competent in computer use at work or upon entry to college or university. ICDL Certification is: • Attainable • Relevant to the workplace and higher education • Easy to implementICDL now includes approximately 12 million participants worldwide and is recognized in over 140 countries.ICDL certification in Canada is attained through an individual's personal account that records the skills demonstrated in the chosen modules. As the candidate passes each module successfully, the corresponding skill is noted in their account. The achievements are also demonstrated by an ICDL Certificate showing the candidates profile.The guiding principle is reality -- the certificate confirms the candidate's actual skills. The standard is free of any bias towards a hardware producer or software product.In New ICDL available 3rd quarter 2013, 15 modules will be available for base, standard and advanced skill sets.Computer training organizations, educational institutions and employers can be accredited as Authorized Test Centres. For individuals located some distance form test centres, Custom Testing can be arranged through ICDL Canada.
