Mobility is more connected, integrated, and sophisticated than ever before. Vehicles connect to infrastructure and each other, the supply chain moves in direct collaboration with other suppliers, and services are delivered directly to consumers. The SHIELD Automotive Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence was founded to ensure the safety, security, and privacy of these mobility systems. SHIELD is a multi-discipline, multi-collaborative Centre of Excellence hosted at the University of Windsor founded by 2 Automotive Award Winning Researchers. SHIELD works between the hardware systems embedded in vehicles (sensors even in your seats!) and the standards and networks driving communications (LTE/5G) and the policies and standards guiding development to make sure everyone gets home safe. SHIELD focuses on 3 main priority areas. 1- Research and Innovation Application ready projects with industry partners that ensures that the speed of technology adaptation is matched by the ability to secure and maintain. 2- Education and Training a. Ensuring companies and ecosystem partners are capable of securing their systems by training their security professionals. b. Lowering the barriers and complexity to entry for students wanting to become the next cybersecurity leaders. 3- Thought Leadership The biggest challenge to Automotive Cybersecurity is not being aware of the risks. Whether its shutting down supply chains, private information breaches or worse, everyone needs the tools to secure the way they move. SHIELD will focus on public awareness with their partners and be a source of information and preparedness. The SHIELD Automotive Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence is driven by partnerships and real-world applications. If you'd like to partner with SHIELD, please contact us today. SHIELD is a proud partner with the APMA (Automotive Parts Manufacturers Association).
