We are not-for-profit Organization on a mission to end neonatal mortality in Nigeria by ensuring that every woman can access medical support and intervention as and when needed.The first 28 days of life (the neonatal period) are said to be the most vulnerable period in a child's life. Children face the highest risk of dying in their first month of life, at a global rate of 19 deaths per 1,000 live births. Nigeria's newborn death rate stands as one of the highest in the world today at over 30 deaths per 1000 live births. Through our two main projects - The Genesis project and the Olivia project, we strive to reduce the neonatal mortality rate in Nigeria to 12 per 100 live births or less; in alignment with the United Nations SDG 3. The Genesis Project - which was launched last year, is focused on educating and supporting at-risk (less privileged) mothers through their pregnancy and delivery. The Mumspring foundation provides WHO-approved birth kits to ensure safe birthing against infections during delivery. In partnership with various NGOs, CSOs, LCDAs, and CSR programs, we were able to support over 100 women in the space of 10 months. Over the next 4 years, Mumspring Foundation aims to reach over 3 million at-risk pregnant women through the Genesis project. Early in 2019, the Olivia Project was established with the aim of establishing 70 Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) in Nigeria before the end of 2020. The main objective of this initiative is to provide urgent care intervention to newborns who are in need of and unable to access special medical attention. Through these facilities, we will be impacting premature newborns with high-risk disorders and ailments, who are less privileged. We aim to have NICUs established and running in 50% of the local communities in Nigeria over the next 4 years.
