It has been founded by a group of journalists, political activists and development practitioners who, over the last three decades, have always supported democracy, championed universal fundamental freedoms and strived for upholding the socio-cultural, political and economic rights of the oppressed and the marginalised.Through Sujag, its founders seek to support and promote the creation of a peaceful, equitable, inclusive and democratic society in Pakistan. But while doing so, Sujag will be neither driven by the commercial or any other personal interests of its founders nor will it be beholden to the imperatives of the state's propaganda.Sujag is a non-partisan disseminator of news and analysis. It does not cater to the interests of any business entity, political organization and/or state/non-state institution. Without any fear or favor, it seeks to inform, engage and mobilize people so that they can know and claim their rightful place within the state and the society.Sujag practices a people-centered journalism. It is, and will always be, partial to the wants and needs of those who have been forced to live on the margins of political and economic power in Pakistan. It aims at helping the marginalized and the oppressed to articulate their demands and then make those demands heard within the power corridors.It stands against political suppression, ethnic and/or linguistic supremacy, economic exploitation, gender discrimination and religious persecution. It also opposes dictatorship of all types and censorship in all forms.
