Who we areThe Faculty of Public Health was established in 2001 with the support of the Stability Pact. The Faculty is within the structure of the Medical University – Sofia, the oldest and the most eminent academic organization in the field of medicine and public health in Bulgaria. The creation of the Faculty was carried through a Bulgarian project with European significance. The Faculty of Public Health is a modern university formation for introducing students and graduates to the managerial science specific for the health sector - management of public health.Mission- Integration and creation of uniform methodological basis for educational and scientific activities in the field of public health;- Creation of a new generation of health managers with competencies and a new pluralistic managerial style consistent with the European standards;- To ensure intellectual and methodological support to health policy maters and the managers of the organizational change in the Bulgarian health-care system.What we aim for¬ To manage the process of elaboration of skills and knowledge needed in public health training and research responsibly and creatively;¬ To build the necessary capacity of public health experts to effectively confront the challenges of the changing healthcare environment;¬ To create a new generation of healthcare managers who have competencies to face the challenges of the dynamically emerging market in healthcare;¬ To provide continuing education and wide technical support to public health professionals and politicians in the national health system.The main objective of FPH-MU, Sofia is the development of the science for public health. The activity of the Faculty is devoted to the management of ideas and resources in the public health sector. The acquired knowledge and skills ensure successful professional realization of the graduated students as:- Managers, consultants and experts in the management and administrative structures of the health care and health insurance system, medical institutions in primary health care and hospital system as well as in other governmental and non-governmental organizations;- Experts in other institutions and organizations related to public health;- Lecturers and researchers in higher educational institutions and research organizations;- Medical practitioners in different sectors of the health care system, in nursing and midwifery.
