The Spanish Federal Council of the European Movement is one of the 39 sections that make up the International European Movement. It was achieved in February 1949 at number 11 of the "Avenue Marceau" in Paris, and from exile he developed an alternative policy that envisaged in European unity the way to end the dictatorship, re-implant democracy in Spain and seek its economic and social development. Having legalized its activities in Spain since 1978, the CFEME directs its action, on the one hand, to promote the development of a European identity and common values in Spanish society, and, on the other, to enable the institutions, political forces and organizations to socioeconomic, Spain is a dynamic factor in the process of European construction. Since the establishment of democracy, the CFEME has had the support of public administrations and particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, of the Autonomous Communities for the corresponding Councils and with the sponsorship of private entities. Likewise, many of its activities are carried out in collaboration with the Representation in Spain of the European Commission and the Office in Spain of the European Parliament. Currently, the CFEME is chaired by Francisco Aldecoa Luzárraga. The CFEME is made up of the Councils of the Autonomous Communities, political parties, socio-economic and municipal organizations, trade union centrals, socio-professional entities and associations from journalism or the university along with numerous citizen entities with a European vocation, representatives of civil society.
