Chairperson / Coordinator of Studentteam Delft at Unicef Student Team Delft - Delft, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands
The Unicef Student Team Delft is an official organisation, founded in 2018. The team consists of volunteers and committee members which are managed by the student board. Throughout the year we organize various events focussed on fundraising and creating social awareness among students from the TU Delft. Our main goal this year is to raise money for the UNICEF project Maman Lumière in Burundi. Burundi is a very fertile African country. However, at the same time, 56% of children under the age of five are chronically malnourished because they are structurally under-fed with good nutrients. The consequences of this are serious and (often) irreversible. How is this still happening? Even though most of the Burundian population live in the countryside where they are self-sufficient, many mothers have never learned about the importance of vitamins and minerals for their health and the health of their children. To combat malnutrition, UNICEF is encouraging mothers of well-fed children, who are living in the same village, to teach other mothers on the importance of nutrition. Together with the other 14 student teams in the Netherlands we raise money for this project. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay updated on our activities and news!
