Transition Stirling is an environmental charity focusing on helping the people of Stirling transition to a more resilient sustainable way of living, providing a positive local response to climate change. An overview of Transition Stirling projects are the Tool Library, Stirling Community Food, Repairs and Repair Cafes, IT Repair services, events and workshops, the Reuse Hub, 3D printing and Wood Resuse.Transition Stirling is well known for their Tool Library, a library of things where members can borrow a variety of items including tools, gardening equipment, cooking equipment and sewing machines to mention a few. Transition Stirling also organise events which teach people a variety of skills such as upcycling and repair of furniture and textiles, plus sessions on sustainable food and film screenings.Stirling Community Food project helps reduce food waste. Instead of large supermarkets putting large volumes of excess and near-sell-by-date food in the bin, Stirling Community Food offers the food to everyone in the community for free.Every year a huge amount of things are thrown away which could be given a new lease of life with just a simple repair. Through the Share and Repair project, we are working hard to try and repair items and help people build their repair skills. The Reuse Hub will be an exciting retail space with a range of unusual and unique products, made by the people of Stirling. By buying from the Reuse Hub, you will be reducing waste, and the consumption of raw materials by not buying something new. Together, we can reduce our carbon emissions.
