Artist Statement: Art is what keeps people alive when otherwise they would be lost to us. Faces have always fascinated me. It is amazing how one tiny detail can change a face entirely. If those details are off even a little it's not the same face anymore. When I draw portraits I pay special attention to all of those small details. My goal is to capture a tiny piece of the person's soul, so when you look at the portrait you truly see that person. Art is very powerful. It can change your mind with just a picture. It can inspire and it can translate an idea when words are not enough. Art has the power to create and destroy. It is how we make dreams a reality, as art is how we find magic and travel to far off worlds. Art gives me a voice in an ever increasingly noisy world. Painting is meditative and the pictures I create open doorways into many other worlds. For me art is its own language and the act of creating art is like casting a spell. My art can express far more to the world than I could every say in words.
