My Supports was founded in 2015 by people with a disability and families.The founders saw the NDIS as an opportunity for people with a disability to play a greater role in designing and delivering services. They believe this will lead to better, more innovative services, due to the experiences and insights people with the lived experience can bring.My Supports is a fully registered and audited NDIS Service Provider operating in five states – NSW, VIC, QLD, WA & SA. My Supports is one of the most successful new providers in the NDIS. My Supports supports over 1,500 clients.My Supports is unique in three ways:(1) We are a Disabled People Organisation and Families Organisation (DPO/FO*)- We bring the lived experience of disability into services - 50% of our staff to have the lived experience of disability- The NDIS marketplace will be more diverse and end-user focused if people with a disability and their families are helping shape services. - NDIA Definition DPO/FOs:"Are led and controlled by people with a disability or their families with a minimum membership of 50% of people with a disability or their families making up the board, staff, volunteers and members.".(2) We work via small, local Neighbourhood Teams- Support via local people bringing local connections and contacts- Flexible, local, your choice of support worker – but with full safeguarding and supervision(3) Innovation- We are pioneering in-community support options, as an alternative to support in an institutional environment- Support to live in-community for all abilities, including people with complex and high needs- In-community housing-support options – such as NDIA SIL innovation and NDIA ILOsMy Supports can be contacted via www.mysupports.com.au or info@mysupports.com.au.
