Shule works with street-connected children located in Kampala and Mbale Uganda. Our goal is to move children off the streets, reunite them with their families and return them to the classroom.Divided into three programs our holistic approach enables Shule to better serve the children whose lives we are committed to change.Shule walks the streets engaging kids who live within the confines of the slums. We identify new arrivals in the hopes of returning them home quickly and those in of need of medical care. Outreaches play a crucial role in trust-building among the boys. (We host bigger outreaches monthly with various stakeholders, where children come to eat, shower, play games, get tested for HIV, screened for TB, are dewormed and much more.)Our Drop-In-Center provides street-connected boys with a safe place to go. At the center, the kids receive two meals (breakfast and lunch), bathe and wash clothes, participate in catch-up classes for math and English, learn to play chess, participate in other extra-curricular activities and attend skill training seminars. Our transitional home serves as an interim house for boys who are ready to break the cycle of street life. The house acts as a bridge between street and home life, providing the necessary timeline for each individual child to begin healing. The Shule Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization registered in the United States.
