Legal Aid and Service Clinic basically serves the purpose of providing free legal advice to achieve the goal of socio-economic Justice.In order to achieve the goal of social justice, the Clinic provides free legal aid and services to the poor and other weaker sections of society. The Clinic provides free legal counselling on all working days between 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The Clinic has a separate office within the premises of Law School. The Clinic also organizes other activities such as seminars, workshops, lectures by experts, paralegal training for volunteers of NGOs, legal awareness camps, legal awareness exhibition, legal research and advocacy etc. The member of the clinic are engaged in spreading legal awareness in rural areas through street plays as well as legal aid camps where they make the target population aware of different legal service program and guide them to avail these facilities. The BHU Legal Aid and Service Clinic is a recongnised partner institution of Various Statuatory Legal Services Authorities including the District Legal Services, Authority, Varanasi.For administrative purposes, at the Faculty level, there is a "Legal Aid and Service & Clinical Legal Education Program Committee". This Committee is headed by the Head and Dean, Faculty of Law, who is ex-officio Director of the Legal Aid and Service Clinic. A team of faculty members including the Executive Director and the Organizing Secretary along with student volunteers run the Clinic. Student Volunteers are chosen on the basis of academic merit, personality and dedication to serve the society.The Clinic also receives guidance and assistance from honorable faculty members, senior students and alumni of Law School.Many alumni provide their services to the Clinic free of cost. It wishes to enter into partnership with like minded institutions.It welcomes all kind of support from public spirited people and institutions to achieve it's objectives.
