Bignity was formed out of my desire to use innovations in technology to help reduce the stigma associated with special needs, to provide a fun, multi-sensory approach to speech and language, and to provide a forum for community members to learn and connect. The iPad/tablet app is in the early stages of development. The app is focused on the speech and language development skills most difficult for children and teens with disabilities. I am presently in the seed round with investors and looking towards attracting additional investors. Simultaneously, the Bignity website will be launching in about two weeks. Bignity is dedicated to all things special needs, with an aim to become the Huffington Post of the special needs world. We have gathered some fabulous writers who specialize in various aspects of special needs- from special educators, to deaf educators, to parents and therapists. In addition, we will be highlighting some key players in the field via video interviews that will be posted on the site. Lastly, we are celebrating the amazing abilities of children through a "Kid of the Week" segment.I believe we can use Bignity to build not only local communities, but to foster a nationwide community of professionals, parents and educators who aim to help children and teens with special needs. Please feel free to email me or call me if you'd like to get involved. I know that we can accomplish great things.
