Second Harvest organizes the community to be part of the solution to hunger. A broad base of support from generous food and financial donors and more than 7,000 volunteers annually makes it possible for Second Harvest to operate very efficiently. Every donated dollar is transformed into five meals for hungry people.Right now, Second Harvest supplies 540,000 pounds of donated food each week to 250 partner food banks, meal sites and other hunger-relief programs in Eastern Washington and North Idaho. This network feeds more than 55,000 people a week.Ninety-nine percent of all donations, including in-kind gifts, goes toward collecting, transporting, warehousing and distributing food for people in need.
