It is individualized and uses a relationship-based, family-integrated approach that yields measurable outcomes.Purpose: The purpose of the NFI is to serve as the authoritative leader for research, development, and dissemination of the Newborn Individualized Developmental Care and Assessment Program (NIDCAP) and for the certification of trainers, health care professionals, and nurseries in the NIDCAP approach.Mission: The NFI promotes the advancement of the philosophy and science of NIDCAP care and assures the quality of NIDCAP education, training and certification for professionals and hospital systems.
