We live in a world where our personal information has been stolen many times over and where huge companies profit from consumers' data while making it nearly impossible for consumers to exercise control over that data. As many have experienced first-hand, stolen identity and credit data is often used to perpetrate fraud in our names, costing consumers, creditors, and merchants billions of dollars per year and unquantifiable frustration and heartache. The Equifax breach of last year and Facebook's vast disclosure to third parties -- and the constant new revelations as to the breadth of both -- are just two recent examples that have brought the need for change to the forefront. Our goals are to increase consumer confidence in credit data, expand credit worthiness to those currently "unbanked," protect credit data integrity, and combat fraud.
