The Neural Engineering Research Venture (NERV) was established by Professor Dawie van den Heever and Julianne Blignaut. In 2020, Siobhan Hall and Julianne Blignaut launched NERV online. NERV is a global platform for online learning, accessible to a widespread community of researchers and enthusiasts in the fields of computational neuroscience and artificial intelligence. NERV's online platform was launched to enable researchers from all over the world to share their research and knowledge with a global audience.NERV hosts e-presentations and discussions, and aims to facilitate global interaction between attendees from fields of engineering, data science and neuroscience. We are proud to host speakers whose research is currently shaping the frontiers of brain science and technology. This platform aims to be accessible to everyone who is interested to learn from and contribute to this exchange of knowledge. NERV's mission is centered around specifically providing open access neuroscience to fellow African countries, while being cognizant of the limited connectivity, communications and technology in parts of many African countries. NERV aims to share state of the art research with its online audience. Moreover, NERV wants to provide a global platform for young "up and coming" researchers to share their work with a widespread audience, with a specific focus on sharing Africa's brain research with the world.
