The mission of Jazz in the Neighborhood is to celebrate and invigorate the Bay area's rich musical jazz heritage by creating more opportunities for establishing local musicians to perform, mentor aspiring players, and share this great American art form with the community. Through public concerts and collaboration with school music programs and adult big bands, the project enables top-caliber artists to push creative boundaries while helping developing musicians "learn on the bandstand" according to the great jazz tradition. Performances in neighborhood venues will not only showcase our wealth of local talent, but also create regular destinations for people to enjoy rich cultural and social experiences where they live.
