In 2008, The Stair Barrier founder Janelle Lowe Fitzpatrick needed a way to keep her own dogs and baby off of her home's volute/curved banister stairs and found herself faced with a dilemma: safe or attractive. Not wanting to settle for one or the other, she invented a solution that looked as good as it worked and the first Stair Barrier prototype was created. The Stair Barrier officially launched in January 2015 and now offers stair gates specifically designed for staircases with banisters. Three Configurations - Banister to Banister, Wall to Banister and Wall to Wall - and Three Sizes - regular, wide, and custom - are now available in a wide selection of fabrics, giving parents a simple, attractive solution for making the stairs off-limits to young kids and curious pets. What began as one mom's solution is now an American Made business, with all materials sourced and manufactured in the U.S.A.
