Youth development activities in the socio-economic development efforts of Bangladesh determine the pace of development of this country. Full education and appropriate training is required for proper development and proper nurture of youth initiative and creative ability. Realizing this importance, the need to set up a youth center at the national level was felt in the last half of the 80's. Youth centers have been set up in neighboring India, Sri Lanka and other parts of the world. These centers have gained a special reputation in the international arena by playing a major role in the overall development of the youth in their respective countries and in the international arena. Out of deep affection for the youth, the then and present Prime Minister Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina has kindly agreed to name the center "Sheikh Hasina National Youth Center". This great decision is an absolute achievement for the youth of this country. The journey of Sheikh Hasina National Youth Center started in 1998 as a development project with an allocation of Taka 1710.24 lakh under the Department of Youth Development.
