Young Audiences of Massachusetts (YAMA) is an arts education non-profit that harnesses the many powers of the arts to strengthen learning skills, bring school curriculum vibrantly to life and introduce children to unfamiliar cultures and new forms of self-expression. YAMA was founded in 1962 with a mission to "initiate lifelong involvement in the arts by making them integral to every child's education." While we began with a focus on music education, our offerings have expanded to include a wide variety of dance, music, theater and puppetry, storytelling and literary arts, and visual arts. We bring the region's best performing and teaching artists to schools, libraries, museums, community centers, hospitals, homeless shelters and other learning and healing centers throughout the Commonwealth to give our youth inspiring performances, hands-on workshops and in-depth artist residencies. YAMA is one of 32 affiliates of Young Audiences, Arts for Learning, the nation's largest non-profit arts education network.Learn more about us at yamass.org.
