Educating Africa is an education focused charity that aims to support and empower children of Afro-Caribbean descent to fulfil their potential."According to UNICEF (2017), over 1 billion children worldwide live in poverty while the Child Development Index in Africa is twice that of the world average."The cycle of poverty perpetuates from youth into adulthood which invariably means children born to poor parents are more likely to grow into poor adults and in turn become poor parents themselves.Our strategy is to level the playing field wherever possible using education as an instrument to promote self efficacy.MissionEducating Africa is a highly motivated and committed collective focused on alleviating poverty through the education of Afro-Caribbean girls. We aim to achieve this by providing financial, physical and emotional support to enable girls to obtain the vital education that they deserve. We passionately believe in gender equality in education, therefore we work in partnership with relevant shareholders to attain our vision of a richer and sustainable Africa.VisionEducating Africa's vision is to work relentlessly to provide every African and Caribbean girl equal access to an enriched and varied education.PurposeEducating Africa was created for the public benefit to promote the education (including social, emotional and physical training) of children under the age of 18 years in alignment with our values and ethos, including by:1. Awarding to such persons scholarships, maintenance allowances or grants tenable at any primary, secondary school, university, college or institution of higher or further education.2. Providing their education (including the study of music or other arts), to undertake travel in furtherance of that education or to prepare for entry to any occupation, trade or profession on leaving any educational establishment."3.
