The story of Battaglia foods starts with Augustino Battaglia as a little boy in Sicily with rheumatic fever; he left for America in search of a doctor. He was just 9 years old and left behind his family and came with the townspeople who became his adopted family in Chicago. He grew up with a drive for success so he sold produce with a cart and his donkey; one hot summer he sold all his lemons because it was a good season for lemonade! Talk about turning lemons into lemonade! He used the money to got a place on the produce market. We stayed on South Water market many years till about the 3rd generation were we got our own building down the street from the market. Now we have grown tremendously catering to Italian restaurants and grocery stores in Chicagoland and our neighboring states. We make our own sausage in house, grate our Imported Pecorino Romano, make dough balls, make our pizza box's, shred the mozzarella, and on. We have our own private label which we are very proud of the consistent high quality we bring with our canned tomatoes, appetizers, dressings, flour, beef, and mozzarella. All in clean USDA inspected pristine equipment. We also import Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Italian wine, Italian pasta, wheels of parmesan, and many of the finest Italy has to offer. We have a full line of products from produce, cleaning supplies, paper products, and our custom line of Italian food. Over the years we have grown but we are still a family owned business that takes pride in bringing high quality food. We have kept our sights on what matters bringing the best food at a fair price. Today we can boast about our fleet of over 40 trucks and 100 years of business.
