The tourism industry of Maldives is deemed to be the most successful industry, which generates the highest per capita income and also a key factor to the development of the economy. In spite of the success, the stiff competitiveness existent within the industry is directly related to any weakness that may impact the overall tourism growth. Medplus believes that all aspects of the tourism industry should be well addressed to ensure the sustainability of tourism in the Maldives. However, it is evident that the health sector of the industry requires improvement to further develop the industry. As per the present condition of our tourism health sector, proper medical facilities are not made available on site when a tourist requires instant medical care which compels the respective resort managements to transfer such tourists to Male', the capital of Maldives for further treatment. Such arrangements disrupt the course of their vacations, and make their stay in the resorts less desirable. Hence, Medplus Maldives was formed on 20 March 2011, to address and overcome the major issues in the health sector by providing expert medical care on site. Our plan is to establish the finest medical facilities to cater the needs of tourists in the most ideal manner.
