Educate for Life is committed to sustainable development. We work in a remote marginalised community in rural India integrating education, healthcare, and community services. In 2007 we established an innovative primary school called Hunar Ghar in southern Rajasthan. We work closely with local partners to ensure that the school provides high quality education. Over 80% of adults in the area where it is situated have never been to school themselves and the literacy rate is 20%. Hunar Ghar currently has over 400 pupils, ranging from four to fourteen. Students are developing a range of skills and achieving good academic results. The majority of final year students are going on to continue their education at secondary school. The school acts as a hub for community related development as we aim to provide seamless support for community members from pregnancy to adulthood through community services focused on maternal and child healthcare.
