Vice President at Kahuna's Kids- a Leo A. Longoria, Jr. Memorial Foundation - Tucson, Arizona, United States
Kahuna's Kids is a nonprofit organization founded in loving memory of Leo A. Longoria, Jr. Our mission is to encourage youth participation in the sport of fishing and appreciation for the great outdoors. Our goal is to continue a charity even that he was a part of organizing for over 30 years. The Mentoring Kids Fishing Derby is a one-day event held at Patagonia Lake, Arizona. The purpose of this event is to host a group of at-risk youth for a fun-filled day of fishing with experienced anglers. Each child and their mentor are taken out on boats at Patagonia Lake. The children are given their own fishing rods, tackle and a T-shirt that they are able to take home with them. They spend the morning fishing and are then treated to a lunch which has been prepared for them. Our next event will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016. We are seeking boaters who can volunteer one day of their time to host a child and their mentor on their watercraft. We also need help on shore with getting the young anglers prepared for their day on the water, launching boats and lunch preparation. Since we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, all donations are tax deductible and greatly appreciated. We are 100% volunteer-run. Many local Tucson companies have contributed towards this event and our work would not be possible without their generous support! This year we are able to offer any business who makes a $200+ donation, their company logo will appear on the event t-shirt! Please visit our website to learn more about the event, view pictures of past events and to learn more about how you can help. THANK YOU!
