We provide person to person services to Dane County neighbors in need, without regard for their race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious preference. We are one of the most cost-effective providers of services to the low-income population in our County, including families, the elderly, persons with disabilities, the homeless, and the mentally ill. Significant percentages of our clientele are from an underserved, low-income minority population. Over 500 volunteers assist staff with the operation of our programs.Aid valued at nearly $2 million was provided by St. Vincent de Paul directly to Dave county neighbors in need during the fiscal year that ended in 2011. Our Food Pantry supplied nutrition for 64,000 local people. About 50 men, women and children were given a home through our Port St. Vincent men's shelter and our Seton House shelter for women and children. We operate six Thrift Stores throughout Dane County which provided clothing worth more than $220,000 directly to people in need. Our prescription medication program provided over $88,000 worth of medicine to people who are without health insurance.
