Headquartered in Olney, Illinois, US Weight is a manufacturer of weights with a wide range of uses in crowd control, mass transit, industrial, agriculture, fitness, recreation, and more made in the United States of America. The small, Midwestern town of Olney is home to the management, manufacturing, shipping, and warehouse teams in a modern 110,000-square-foot facility.US Weight was founded in 1996 by Larry Mitchell and Matt Buchannan and purchased five years later by Escalade Sports, a publicly-traded (NASDAQ: ESCA) manufacturer, to further expand its sporting goods business. The two partners purchased fitness-related assets from RoadMaster Corp., which was one of the largest sporting goods companies at the time. Initially US Weight focused on the fitness market after acquiring fitness weight manufacturing technology from RoadMaster, originally developed by Diversified Products. This pioneering technology created weight sets encased in blow-molded polyethylene that did not rust, did not scuff floors, were easy to handle, and were made at a much lower cost than traditional cast iron fitness weights. These innovative weight sets quickly became a success and secured distribution at Walmart, Kmart, Sears, and others. Today, US Weight sells a variety of products including tractor wheel weights, suitcase weights, tiller weights, canopy weights, fitness weights, crowd control stanchions and visual barriers, and more to a variety of customers including Walmart, Dick's Sporting Goods, Big 5 Sporting Goods, Zumba, Amazon, John Deere, Husqvarna, MTD, and Kubota.
