Combining key benefits of a gravity base foundation, a monopile and suction anchor technology, the Universal Foundation's Mono Bucket can be installed in a wide variety of site conditions, including sand, silt, clay and layered strata.Part of the Carbon Trust's Offshore Wind Accelerator programme, a trial installation campaign was recently completed across three major offshore wind sites in the UK North Sea involving a scaled down Universal Foundation Mono Bucket design, as well as a "standard" suction anchor, marking a milestone for Universal Foundation. The trial followed successful projects Universal Foundation has already been involved in, including the installation of two meteorological masts in one of the most challenging sites in the North Sea, Dogger Bank, and with a record installation time. Other projects include Horns Rev 2 where Universal Foundation Norway, together with Dong Energy, installed a mobile metrological mast at the site in the East North Sea to demonstrate the feasibility of a floating installation process. And a Vestas V90 3MW wind turbine has stood on a Mono Bucket at Frederikshavn since 2002.
