Earth Rebirth is a nonprofit educating and empowering individuals to bridge the gaps between economic and environmental problems. Earth Rebirth was created in 2011 as a mechanism to help people overcome misconceptions about the economic sustainability of environmental action. No matter what your political or philosophical beliefs may be about climate change, we all need food, energy, and water to survive. Our initial programs included Garden Your Own Growth, Homemade Sustainability, and Take H2Ownership. The Garden Your Own Growth program has since changed to The Garden Network and has won multiple awards over the years for our work helping set up over 125 community gardens across Oklahoma. Our work with the City of Norman and groups like Sierra Club, Blue Thumb, Keep OK Beautiful, and many others helped us collaborate on historic goals like the City of Norman becoming the 1st city in Oklahoma to commit to 100% renewable energy. Our water program has helped remove thousands of pounds of trash from small creeks and streams while educating people on innovative ways to preserve water quality. In 2015, Earth Rebirth opened our first community center in downtown Norman, OK. The Earth Rebirth Center operated for three years while fundraising and hosting thousands of education and fundraising events. Since then, our team has worked diligently to expand our resources and tools for teachers and community gardens. In 2019, Earth Rebirth was awarded the USDA Farm to School grant to expand the Garden Network as well as develop a one-of-a-kind garden management app.As COVID-19 hit, our team was fortunate to already be transitioning to more versatile online tools for our community. We have updated our web interface, expanded online courses, released new e-books, added fundraising opportunities for our projects through merchandising and affiliate opportunities, and much more.
