I2AM is a youth-focused nonprofit organization dedicated to making the American dream a reality for more people of color. WHAT INSPIRED US:  Our MotivationI2AM was inspired by the great poet, Langston Hughes, who boldly proclaimed: "I, too, am America".   The concept of the American Dream is founded on the central premise that all men (and women) are created equal and should be equally entitled to live freely and achieve greatly.  However, when the Declaration of Independence was written by the founding fathers of this country, it did not apply to their darker brothers and sisters. Fast forward nearly 250 years, and people of color in America, are still calling for inclusion and equal opportunity.  WHAT WE DO: Our Mission  I, Too AM (I2AM) is a call for inclusion and a demand for equality.  We focus on leveling the playing field at the earliest stage of development, by educating, empowering and equipping young dreamers to leave their mark in their classrooms, communities and ultimately this country.
