Ostiio is committed to improving the lives of children with craniofacial differences. The treatment experience for these children is often complex and traumatic, but it doesn't have to be. At Ostiio we are transforming standard of care for this vulnerable patient population by developing a suite of devices for next-generation distraction of the craniofacial skeleton. Distraction is a surgical technique used increasingly to correct growth restriction of the skull and mandible. In currently available distraction systems, parents utilize a screwdriver to manually expand their child's implanted distractor in accordance with a precise, surgeon-defined protocol. This well-established process has the miraculous ability to regenerate and expand bones. But current systems place an enormous burden on patients and their caregivers, carry increased risk of infection and other device-associated complications, and rob surgeons of process transparency that is critical for treatment success.Ostiio's fully implantable, automated distraction system is changing this.
