Union Square Main Streets (USMS) works collaboratively to actively support a vibrant neighborhood by preserving the character and advancing the economic strength of the Union Square business district and community.By highlighting the artistic and ethnic strengths of the neighborhood, USMS seeks to drive commercial and economic development. USMS celebrates food — local and international, the eclectic creative sensibilities, and the dense, unique fabric of this New England square that blossomed before there was such as thing as smart growth.Initiated by Mayor Joseph Curtatone in 2005, USMS is a non-profit, public-private partnership between the City of Somerville, the National Main Street Center, Union Square business leaders, residents and community leaders.
