Hello and Welcome! My name is Jo Anna Johnson, and I am the sole proprietor of Practical Choices and Healthy Change Therapy, LLC as well as an Associated Licensed Counselor (ALC) for the state of Alabama. I obtained my BA in Psychology from the University of Alabama and my MS in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from Capella University. I serve adult individuals ages 18 and up experiencing a wide variety of issues. These issues consist of but are not limited to problems associated with cultural differences in interpersonal relationships, alcohol and substance abuse, anger management, and trauma associated with domestic abuse and violence. I utilize an integrative-psychotherapeutic approach which uses your biopsychosocial history and continually assess your current stage of change, coping style, reactance level, and treatment preferences to decide techniques effective in addressing the presenting problem. As such, my role as counselor will change to match your needs; whether it be advisor, supporter, consultant, etc. My mission is to guide and facilitate change in thoughts, feelings, and behaviors as a way to tackle experienced challenges and improve overall well-being.
