Action for Education, Inc. (AcE) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals and building community through the power of education. Founded in 2015, our mission to serve the impoverished people of Honduras, a country afflicted by profound economic despair and violence, has led to the creation of several unique initiatives.Our approach includes several initiatives. We operate and provide funding to our Juan Orlando Hernandez School in San Pedro Sula. We also enable access to education through the Students for Change Scholarship, which sends students to the Juan Orlando Hernandez Public School. It is a program that provides the necessary financial support to families who cannot afford to lose a vital source of income in sending their child to school. We are in the process of opening Trinidad School of Nursing, a nurse technician program in Trinidad, Santa Barbara, Honduras. This 2-year program will graduate specialized nurses, who will go on to provide crucial healthcare to under-served communities. Our unique, tuition-free model ensures that our program is not prohibitive to any candidates, and that the program graduates nurses will a passion for community healthcare. We also facilitate several annual service trips. Our 2016 medical service trips, for example, deliver crucial health services and health education to communities in desperate need. Past service trips have included setting up medical clinics, building infrastructure, teaching, and community outreach.
