Our Trust was founded in 2003, and our primary objective is "to enhance the lives of people living with long-term disabilities by providing Mobility Dogs to increase independence, confidence, self-esteem and participation in New Zealand communities." We achieve this goal through the following initiatives: undertaking the training of Mobility Dogs; providing Mobility Dogs to people living with disabilities and instructing them in the skills required to work with a Mobility Dog. We place Mobility Dogs to work as service dogs for people living with the impact of disability or as working Therapy Dogs in a variety of settings. Along with a small, dedicated staff based in Auckland, we are supported by volunteers in Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Southern Lakes who help with puppy raising and fundraising. Support of local communities is essential, and we are grateful for the support of local funders, businesses and individuals, particularly in the areas our clients, volunteers and staff are based.
