Joe provides exceptional quality teaching with over 30 years' experience as a TAFE Ceramics Teacher and Ceramic Artist in Brisbane.Artist Profile – Joe OttawayJoe completed teacher training in Rockhampton Queensland and a Bachelor of Arts in Ceramics in Melbourne during the late seventies before returning to his home state. He has been a full time Ceramics Teacher in TAFE and a practising ceramist, for over 35 years.During this time Joe has held numerous exhibitions and his ceramics work is represented in private and public collections in Queensland and interstate.He is a dedicated teacher and practitioner who is passionate about education in ceramics and pottery classes."Clay is a wonderful versatile medium which can provide students of all ages with a satisfying and challenging creative experience.'' "Ceramic art has a long history and its richness and diversity have ensured that it remains a relevant and important area of art and craft practice in contemporary society.''Course Outline:Wheel throwing – This course provides an introduction to the fundamentals of wheel throwing. You will learn practical skills in the making of functional and decorative forms on the wheel as well as methods of decorating and glazing work. Continuing students are encouraged to develop individual directions with their work by undertaking more focussed and challenging projects.All courses are suitable for beginners or students with previous experience in clay work. A progressive course structure is provided for beginners whilst experienced students may work on individual learning programs which will assist them in developing a personal direction. Classes run for 3 hours and numbers are limited to 10 students.
