Many Fire Departments across the United States deploy fire apparatus to be used as blocker vehicles to protect emergency responders and civilians at highway incident scenes. This is a recommended practice in many Traffic Incident Management (TIM) programs across the country. Most departments that follow this practice are currently utilizing large frontline firefighting vehicles, such as Pumpers or Aerials to accomplish this task. Both the cost and time to repair or replace firefighting apparatus if struck, can cause hardship to agency as well as lead to gaps in providing timely adequate service to the communities they gallantly protect. At Florian ReApparatus we transform reserve or decommissioned fire apparatus into Truck Mounted Attenuator (TMA) units for the fire service. Each of our custom fabricated builds are equipped with brand new, MASH tested attenuators and MUTCD compliant arrow or message boards. Our TMAs provide advanced warning and direction to motorists as well as impact protection for responders, their frontline apparatus, and the occupants of vehicles involved in secondary incidents.
