As we observe a rise in food security issues today, the need to develop urban agriculture is at an all-time high due to increased carbon footprint for any sort of produce. This is topped by the negatively declining food economic pattern as implied by our disproportionate market distribution. There is a need to provide more locally produced goods which create more robust local markets that in turn make local communities more cohesive.TU:GU now works with urban neighborhoods in Subang and Kuantan on co-managing community farms, as well as provides local producers as well as urban farmers a community-driven marketplace.TU:GU is short for Tanah U: Green Union. 'Tanah' literally translates into 'land', and 'tanah u', which literally translates into 'your land', is our goofy, authentic Malaysian way of striking a sense of belonging to our community, urban, and private spaces, that they should be seen as wonderful opportunities to cultivate green produce for personal and shared consumption, and to ultimately develop local resilience and self-sufficiency.TU:GU is the community engagement front of Green Union Co., which was registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) in August 2017.
